The club draws its core players from Regional NSW; as far north as Taree; as far west as Tamworth; as far south as the Central Coast and Albury; as well as from Newcastle and its surrounding region.
The Hurricanes also recruit international import players and have developed a good relationship with University water polo programs in the US.
